Open Position – Content Creation

We are Bhavishyath Counselling, an NGO working in the career guidance and counselling space in India. Our fieldwork is in Andhra Pradesh but we also do online sessions, create communication and course material and IT tools for career counselling and other eclectic projects.

We are looking to hire a full-time person to work on creating course material related to skills and careers. We have a project where we are creating course material for government schools from 9th to 12th grades. The content will give children a taste of different skills in the world of work and careers associated with those skills. For eg. One of the skills we will teach about is storytelling and careers related to that are journalism and content creation.

The content will be primarily developed by Internet research and talking to practitioners and experts. Content includes material for classroom instruction as well as good assignment and project work for the students. After creating the content we will be training the teachers on the content and handholding them in delivery

Specific  tasks:
– Create the module designs
– Create teaching materials and assignments for individual sessions
– Extensive internet research and interviews with practitioners to do the above
– Help organise teacher training and take some sessions
– Monitor the teacher and classroom experience and make changes to the courses based on it
– Administrative support in hiring experts for short duration, setting up online meetings, travel and event logistic

The role has good opportunity for growth. In the initial phase the candidate will mostly focus on this project but over time the role will expand to play a important role across different projects in the organisation in areas like communications, fundraising and policy advocacy.

Qualifications and Work Experience:
Bachelors or Masters in any area, with a good academic record or other evidence of intellectual ability. Social Work, Communication, Education are the more relevant specialities.

2-10 years of experience. We are looking for someone who can manage themselves to some extent so you are unlikely to qualify unless you have a couple of years of experience. 2-10 years of work experience. People with higher years of experience will be considered for more senior roles. 

Relevant Skills, Personality etc.:
Most important skill is doing research primarily on the internet to find materials that can be used for classroom instruction and assignments.

Second most important skill is writing; to create the course design, lesson plans etc.

The task involves co-ordination with others so you must be comfortable with that

Curiosity and general knowledge about the world

Good communication in English with no grammar errors, both written and spoken. Need to be able to read and speak Hindi.

This is a fairly intellectual role, so you would need to be able to absorb ideas quickly in reading and conversations and write coherent, consistent course material.

There will be some amount of travel, and co-ordination with other stakeholders in the project.

This is a work-from-home role for the next 1 year. However, to make co-ordination simpler it is strongly preferred that the candidate be in Mumbai, Delhi or Bangalore, where different arms of the project are located. We encourage you to apply if the role seems great but above your level. Salary:
40K-70K a month depending on ability and experience.
